Wondering what you could do when you keep applying to jobs but can’t get anything?
The New York City Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) “is a program throughout all five boroughs that give teens between the ages of 14 – 24 an opportunity to get paid to have work experience each summer according to the nyc.gov website.”
The SYEP program allows students the opportunity for “Career exploration, paid project-based learning, work experience and earn money.”
Osem Eke, a participant with SYEP says, ”I decided to join SYEP because I wanted to be out of the house this summer and want to make money as well.”
SYEP staff member, Ms. Lauren, believes SYEP gives teens a chance to gain work experience. She states, ”It gives them an opportunity to work.”
SYEP is highly recommended in schools because as Mrs. Ross states, “Along with building relationships, it gives students work experience and gives them a chance to earn money.”
SYEP is a great program for students who want a chance at new jobs, to gain work experience or just want something to do over the summer.
